The mother is intensively involved in rearing the puppies. They play “discipline” games and she teaches one by one how to behave towards superior animals (dogs and humans) and where are the borders of tolerance of their behaviour. The mother asks the puppies to play one by one and ends the game anytime the puppies behave inappropriately. This is how she teaches them discipline. Sometimes the teaching lesson may seem quite hard. Puppy will learn to cry but the game is not that dramatic. Most of it is brilliant acting from all parties involved. If other adult dogs are part of the pack they also influence the education of puppies by ignoring them or growling at them. Puppies with such experience will reach social maturity earlier and will be preconditioned to develop into easy going adults.
