Period before the mating: Deworm the bitch couple days before the mating. Inoculation should be made no later than 1 month and no earlier than 8 months before the planned mating. Do not expose your female to stress before and during the mating. Her body produces corticoids during stress periods. Corticoids are known to postpone ovulation – therefore the oocytes are not released and cannot be fertilised. Note: All data in this pregnancy calendar are based on presumption that the female is mated during the ovulation.

Day 01 Mating
First mating. The bitch has the ovulation (release of oocytes). The mating date is not the same as fertilisation date. The oocyt matures after being released and can be fertilised in 2 days. Sperm also needs to mature for 6-10 hours after mating and are cleaned from biologically active substances present on the surface. After this time the sperm can fertilise oocytes during next 4-6 days. The difference between mating and fertilisation date can thus be between 1-6 days depending on time of ovulation.

Day 04
Fertilisation of oocytes. The female is in the first trimester of her pregnancy and does not require any special attention. It is not necessary to change type or quantity of food. She can have as much activity as she likes. However it is recommended not to expose her to excessive activity during hot days to prevent hyperthermia or dehydration

Fertilised oocytes developed into zygotes and descend through oviducts into uterine horns.
